Today, the relationship between the new and the pre-existing has become an unavoidable condition of architectural practice. Regeneration and adaptive reuse extend beyond preservation, reconnecting architecture, urbanism, landscape, and environment through the reinterpretation of inherited spaces and twentieth-century heritage. This book presents the work of Zamboni Associati, whose research focuses on interventions within historically and materially constrained contexts. Through the restoration of monumental complexes, the regeneration of abandoned areas, and the renewal of modern architecture, the practice develops precise design strategies summarised by the concepts “Built With,” “Built-In,” and “Built Within,” demonstrating how contemporary architecture can engage critically and creatively with existing structures and urban histories.
