La Congiunta
Peter Märkli
36 pages · English/Francais
Conceived in 1992 by Swiss architect Peter Märkli, La Congiunta was imagined as a selfing designed to house the works of sculptor Hans Josephsohn. The project finds its origin in a long and fruitful relationship between the two men. In 1975, as a student, Markli stepped into Josephsohn's Zurich studio for the first time. He discovered a body of work that was rigorous, frontal, and deeply rooted in matter - an encounter that would leave a lasting mark on him. A sense of compli- city soon developed, nourished by exchanges about form, weight, and presence. Their dialogue, carried on over several decades, would lead to a shared project: to conceive a place of presentation that would be neither a museum nor a galle- ry, but an autonomous space, freed from institutional codes. La Congiunta is the outcome of that vision a shelter rather than an exhibition space, a place meant to extend the sculptures, to take part in the work without ever commenting on it.
