Fran Silvestre Architecture 2018–2026 brings together a carefully curated selection of houses that synthesize the studio’s recent research on residential architecture. The house is approached here as a privileged field of work, where light, material, and technique are combined with precision to shape spaces that are clear, serene, and rigorous.
This publication continues the 2017 monograph Scenarios for Living, which presented the studio’s early works alongside projects of different scales. In contrast to that broader vision, this edition focuses exclusively on recent domestic production, allowing for a more refined and mature reading of its trajectory.
Through projects built in diverse contexts, the volume presents an architecture that pursues essentiality without renouncing complexity: refined spaces defined by the relationship between interior and exterior, the control of light, and a constant constructive optimization. The houses featured —from Piera House or House of Silence to Lago House or The Sphinx— reveal a coherent evolution based on formal clarity, lightness, and a precise attention to everyday life.
The texts by Álvaro Siza, Manuel Aires Mateus, and Emilio Tuñón frame the work within a broader context, highlighting its capacity to construct a silent, rigorous, and contemporary architecture, where technique becomes a means to reach the essential.
