Hotel do Mar 1960-1970

This volume focuses on the period 1960–1970, which coincides with documents found in the archives of architect Francisco da Conceição Silva, who, like his peers at the time, broke with the reverence for traditional fine arts embedded in the previous generation in Portugal to conceive a modernist solution which both responded to the wishes of his client and to the demands of the site. Built in two phases, the Hotel do Mar started on a hillside and subsequently cascaded down the cliff to meet the sea. Part of the S1NGLE series, each of which is dedicated to analysing a single work of architecture from a historical and critical perspective, but also from a current one.
