OASE 122 - 123
Ecological Pedagogies
128 pages
A rich collection of reflections on historical and contemporary practices, methods and resources that embed ecological considerations in architectural education.
Focusing on the main aspects in ecological thinking: pedagogies, subject matter, situations, processes and relationships.
A collection of essays, subject descriptions and exemplary student projects.
OASE 122 -123 explores how architecture education can change in response to the climate crisis. Conventional architecture education teaches largely through abstractions. Within an imaginary scenario, students develop their skills as designers. But from an ecological perspective, an isolated position like this is no longer tenable. How can we bring reality into our educational institutions?
Or, conversely, how do we bring education to the rapidly changing outside world? To answer these questions, OASE 122 - 123 examines both the content of education and the appropriate settings and methods to embed it in the ecological zeitgeist.
